November Parent Meeting Highlights
  • The club will host a "Swim-a-Thon" type event to raise funds for coach Jessica's boy.  Watch for details to come.

  • Watch for December practice calendar for breaks and practice times.  Coach Dave will run a "mini" swim camp from 12/27 - 31 for Bruins and Bears.  Watch for sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

  • Our club is under going structural change.  Watch for announcement from Coach Steck.

October Parent Meeting Highlights
  • Feedbacks on recent meets--Intrasquad, Pentathlon, and Halloween Classic were discussed for future improvements.  If you have any concerns, please inform a board member.

  • Sign-ups for the Columbia meet is due now.  Please sign up your swimmer(s) right away if you plan on attending.  There are some families that will travel to Springdale for the RAC meet.  Watch for meet information sign-up sheet.  There may not be a coach present at the meet.

  • We continue to discuss ideas for this year's fund-raisning events.  The board hopes to provide a clearer picture regarding the "target amount" before any decision is to be made.

September Parent Meeting Highlights
  • New head coach Dave Collins introduced himself to the families and discussed his focus for club and swimmer development.  Welcome, Coach Dave.  If you need to contact Coach Dave, e-mail will be a preferred format.

  • Intrasquad Meet information was provided by Coach Dave.  He will also be organizing volunteers for the upcoming MSA-hosted Pentathlon.  Please volunteer to help at the meet.

  • The Springdale meet hosted by RAC from 11/30 to 12/2 will most likely be added to our meet schedule.  Watch for announcements to follow.

  • Several fund raiser ideas were discussed as possibilities for this year.  Since the club will not host any major meets this year, we have to raise enough funds to cover lost revenues.  Please let the board members know if you have any ideas you wish to share.

July Parent Meeting Highlights

  • MSA will host this year's Tri-State championship meet on August 4 and 5 at the Natatorium.  Volunteers are needed to help in all aspects of the meet.  Sign-up sheets have been posted on the bulletin board.  We need all families to help out.

  • The end-of-season party will be held on Tuesday, 8/14 at 6 p.m. in the Cooper Estates Clubhouse.  Details will follow soon.

  • Tri-State best times have been posted on the bulletin board.  Please check for correctness.  To be the eligible for championship meet, a swimmer has to have participated in at least two meets and swim the event(s) at least once.  The cancelled Nevada meet will count as one even if you didn't swim.  The meet has been rescheduled to 7/28.  There will be no refunds if you cannot make it.

  • Our summer break will be from 8/6 to 8/20.  Regular practice resumes on Tuesday, 8/21.

  • Eight MSA parent volunteers are on their way to becoming stroke and turn judges.

  • MSA needs a volunteer for the president position.  Contact a board member or Coach Randy if you are interested.

June Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Ginny Imhof presented the advertisement packet for Tri-State Championships meet.  Each family will have to raise a minimum of $100 (including funds raised during D II meet).  Information packet will be place in your mailbox soon.

  • Delia Croessmann will be responsible for coordinating workers and food donations for the hospitality room during Tri-State Championships meet.  Please sign up for food donations and work shifts on the bulletin board.

  • Planning is underway for our end-of-season party.  Detials will follow soon.  There will be a two-week break in August following the Championship meet.

  • Our current president, Craig Plank, will step down after August 1 (his family is relocating back to Wichita).  Anyone who is interested in the position should contact Coach Randy or any of the board members.

May Parent Meeting Highlights

  • The new team directory is now available (big thanks to Tammy Short).  Each family should have received a copy in the mail box.  Contact Neletha Fuemmeler if you did not get a copy or need extra copies.

  • Coach Randy announced some minor changes and additional long course practice for Bears group.  Check "Practice Schedule" for updates.

  • It is time to plan and sign up for summer meets.  Check the bulletin board for meet information and sign-up sheets.

  • Coach Randy reported tentative plans for Ft. Smith team trip.  Details will be available soon.

  • The planning for next year's Olympic try-out team trip has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

  • Parents who volunteered to become stroke and turn judges were given a procedure list.  Contact Craig Plank if you need the information.

  • The board continues to work on fine-tuing the club by-laws.  It will be presented to the parent meeting in June.

April Parent Meeting Highlights
  • $2,500 was collected for the Qdoba fund raiser.  If you didn't sell at least five or didn't participat, up to $50 will be added to your May statement.  Leftover coupon books are available for families interested in purchasing them.

  • Katherine Ting has volunteered to take over as the club meet hotel coordinator.  Thank you, Katherine.

  • To keep our ability to host future meets, the club desperately needs parents to be trained to become meet officials.  Contact coach Randy or Greg Harrell if you are interested.

  • Summer practice schedule will be available soon.

  • Coach Randy went over a rough plan for the upcoming team trip.  Watch for details to follow.

  • The club will get a discount if 10 or more swimmers participated in the Mizzou Swim Camp.  We are currently very close to the number.  Contact Craig Plank if your swimmer is interested in participating.  Details of the camp can be found at http://mutigers.cstv.com/camps/swim-camps.html or call 573-424-1452.

  • Neletha Fuemmeler is investigating the possibility of a team trip to the Olympic Time Trials meet for summer 2008.  Watch for details to follow.

  • The next May board meeting will be held on Wednesday, 5/9 and the parent meeting will be on Wednesday, 5/16 at 6:15 p.m.

Parent Meeting Highlights
  • Final details of volunteers and needs for the hospitality room for the upcoming D II meet were discussed.  Our team is assigned to provide timers during the meet.  A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board.

  • MSA parents are also asked to help clean up after Saturday's and Sunday's finals sessions.

  • The Qsoba fund raiser will end on February 23rd.  Families should turn the proceeds and unsold books back to Liz Kellner or Tammy Short.

  • Coach Randy asked that swimmers who qualify for D I during the D II meet should sign up for D I and let him know by Monday night (2/26).

  • Craig Plank informed the parents that the board is working on revising the club by-laws.  He will keep everyone up-to-date as information becomes available.

January Parent Meeting Highlights
  • Last Chance Meet received entries from approximately 160 swimmers.  Morning and afternoon events will be combined into one session on both Saturday and Sunday.  Parents are encouraged to help at the meet.  Look for sign-up sheet at the bulletin board.
     
  • The December 2006 expense report was presented at the meeting.  Contact Coach Randy for a copy and/or questions.
     
  • The deadline for Qdoba coupon book fundraiser has been extended to 2/23 due to increment of weather in the past two weeks.  Contact Liz Kellner or Tammy Short for books and questions.
     
  • We have a new coach on deck.  Jessica Oatman joins us as the Bruins coach.  Welcome Jessica.
     
  • If your swimmers are interested in participating in a Breakout Swim Clinic with Rowdy Gaines on April 14 in Springdale (http://breakoutswim clinic.com), or a summer swim camp at MU Columbia campus (http://mutigers. cstv.com/ camps/swim- campus.html), contact Craig Plank.
     
  • Swimmers qualified for DII and/or DI events should sign up ASAP for the championship meets.
     
  • The club is still looking for parent volunteers to help in various places during Division II meet.  Look for sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.
     
  • Tammy Short has volunteered to update our team directory.  Thank you, Tammy.
     
  • The next February board meeting will be held on Monday, 2/19 and the parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2/21.

December Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Officer elections were held and we have a new board: President - Craig Plank (to 2008), Vice President - Wiley Buchanan (to 2008), Treasurer - Delia Croessmann (to 2007), Secretary - Neletha Fuemmeler (to 2007).
     
  • A big “Thank You” to Rita Johnson and David Meinert for serving on the board.
     
  • The 2006-07 budget was presented at the meeting. Adjustments and suggestions for future fundraising activities were discussed at the meeting. For questions and to obtain a copy of the budget, contact Coach Randy.
     
  • Landra Bunge has taken up the Office Manager position for the club. She will work approximately 40 hours a month.
     
  • Our holiday party will be held on Tuesday, 12/19 from 7 p.m. on. All practice will take place from 6 to 7 that day. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a gift (under $5). Look for sign-up sheet of munchies to bring on the bulletin board.
     
  • As a reminder, the Hammon’s Center parking lot will be closed starting 12/18 for construction. Parking will be available in the lot south of Hammon’s and in the parking structures on Cherry, and Grand and Holland on ball game nights.
     
  • The board emphasized the open-door policy on communication. Please make arrangements to talk with board members or coaches if you have any questions or concerns.
     
  • Swim-A-Thon results were presented at the meeting. Suggestions for improving outcomes for future Swim-A-Thon were discussed. For a copy of the Swim-A-Thon financial report, contact Coach Randy.
     
  • Courtney Philips is our new assistant coach on deck. She will assist Coach Jamie and Coach Randy during practice.
     
  • Practice schedule for the holiday break is listed in the December practice calendar. Coach Randy encourages swimmers to participate as often as they can during the break.
     
  • Coach Jamie advised parents on events to focus on for the up-coming Columbia meet. Contact either Coach Jamie or Randy if you have any questions.
     
  • Coordination between MSA and SPA for the up-coming Division II meet has begun. We need for parents to volunteer for some key coordination positions. Please look for a sigh-up sheet on the bulletin board soon.
     
  • The January board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 1/10; the parent meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 1/17.

November Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Craig Plank has been nominated for club President, and Wiley Buchannan for Vice President.  We are still taking nominations for Treasurer.  We will vote at the December parent meeting for officers.
     
  • Club by-Laws are currently being updated.  They will also be voted on by the membership at the December parent meeting.
     
  • Office manager position has been posted.  Anyone who is interested should contact Coach Randy.
     
  • MSA vs. Drury on Saturday at 2:00.  It'll be designated as MSA "family day" and there will be reserved seats for club members. Swimmers may volunteer to be timers for the meet.
     
  • Swim-A-Thon donations need to be turned in by Friday, 11/17.
     
  • There will be no Fall Bonfire for this year.  We will host a Christmas party some time in December.
     
  • During construction for JQH stadium, we may encounter a few parking problems on game nights since the streets will be more restricted.  However, more metered parking will be available on the south lot.
     
  • We still need parents who are interested in becoming USA swimming officials.  Contact Coach Randy for details.
     
  • The December board meeting will be on 12/6, and the parent meeting (elections!) will be on 12/13.  The dates have been moved up a week to avoid conflicts with other December events.

October Parent Meeting Highlights

  • The club is still seeking nominations for president and vice president.  Parents who are interested should submit their names to the board.
     
  • Team suits, fins, backpacks, etc. can be picked up from Marilyn Dennis.  Remember to pay before pick up.
     
  • The team is in the process of reconciling our status as a 501 (c) (3) organization on a state and federal level.  Therefore, we will not advertise contributions to the Swim-a-Thon as being tax-deductible for this year.
     
  • Coach Randy and Coach Jamie will take over coaching for Bruins once Coach Paul leaves.  An assistant will also be hired to assist in coaching with both Bears and Bruins.  The transitional period will start on Monday, 10/23.  Contact Coach Randy for more detailed information.
     
  • A additional meet has been added to our winter meet schedule.  The "Polar Bear Meet" hosted by Kansas City Blazers will be held from January 5 to 7 at the Central High School Pool in Kansas City, Missouri.  Meet/hotel information will be posted under "Meet Schedule" when available.
     
  • There will early sign-up deadlines for the Polar Bear meet and the Columbia meet due to popularity of the meets.  Please look for sign-up sheets and deadlines on the bulletin board.
     
  • Look for the Fall Bonfire party information to be posted soon.
     
  • Felix Chang has resigned as club newsletter editor.  Anyone who is interested in taking over the club newsletter, please contact Neletha Fuemmeler.
     
  • The next board meeting will be held on Wed., 11/8 at 6:15 p.m.  The next parent meeting will be held on Wed., 11/15 at 6:15 p.m.
     
  • Please plan on attending the next parent meet since we will hold elections and discuss the updated club by-laws.

September Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Greg Harrell has resigned as president of the board.  Rita Johnson is currently acting president, and Craig Plank is acting vice president until the end of December.

    "Thank you" to Greg for serving as president for the past 2 years.
     
  • Nominations for board president and vice president should be submitted to the board.  Nominations will be presented at the November parent meeting and voted on by ballot at the December parent meeting.
     
  • A new format for board and parent meetings will be adopted starting in October.  Board meetings will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and parent meetings will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
     
  • Parents with questions or concerns they wish to address should contact the board members in person, by e-mail or written comments/questions, or by attending board meetings.  The board will try its best to address the issues in the following parent meeting.
     
  • There will be a fee increase effective October for all swimmers as follows:
    Bears: $75/$55 (1st child/2nd child)
    Bruins: $65/$45
    Cubs & Pandas: $55/$35
    Lessons: $55/$35
    There will be a per family per month cap of $150 for families with multiple swimmers.
     
  • The club will host the Pentathlon meet on 9/30.  Parents please come and help set up Friday, 9/29 evening during practice and Saturday, 9/30 during the meet.
     
  • The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, 10/11 at 6:15, and the October parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, 10/18 at 6:15.

August Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Parents are encouraged to get involved by signing up for various committees.  Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board.
     
  • Jamie D'Agostino is our new coach for the bears.  Due to class schedule conflicts, she will be on deck on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.  Coach Randy will coach the bears on Monday and Thursdays.
     
  • The financial report for MSA-hosted tri-state meet in July was presented at the meeting.  For a copy of the report and/or questions, contact Coach Randy.
     
  • Parents were asked to stay in the bleacher area during practice.  Conference with coaches should take place either before or after practice.
     
  • Meet schedule for Fall/Spring was distributed.  There may be minor changes to the schedule due to parent feedback.  Check "Meet Schedule" for up-to-date information.
     
  • The board is in the process of negotiating SPEEDO team sponsorship and possible change in team suits.  More details will follow.
     
  • All swimmers will have to renew their USA Swimming registration this fall.  The fee is $48 per swimmer.  The charge will appear in the September statement and should be paid by 10/30.
     
  • The September parent meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, 9/19.

June Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Raffle information is in the mailboxes. Each MSA family is responsible for selling at least $50 worth of tickets. Money and tickets are due no later than Friday, 6/30.  If you need more tickets than the 50 already placed in your mailbox, contact Rita Johnson.
     
  • Workers are needed for our 7/1 and 7/2 home meet. Sign up sheets are posted on the bulletin board. There will be a sheet posted for hospitality room items that families may donate.
     
  • There will be no parent meeting in July. The club will take a two week break in August immediately following the Tri-States Championship.  Practice will resume on Monday, 8/21. Family dues will be pro-rated for the month of August.
     
  • Tentative dates for our end-of-season party are August 8th or 9th.  Please mark your calendar.

May Parent Meeting Highlights

  • There will be a team suit/apparel order soon.  Look for order form/information in your mailbox.
     
  • Neletha Fuemmeler will be posting a committee sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.  Please sign up for the committee(s) you wish to serve or remove your name if you are no longer interested.
     
  • A special project committee to update the New Family Packet will be formed.  Contact Neletha Fuemmeler if you are interested in working on this new committee.
     
  • Team trip information is now finalized.  Contact Coach Randy if you have any questions.
     
  • The club is arranging for an official clinic for parents who are interested in officiating in swim meets.  Contact Greg Harrell if you are interested or have any questions.
     
  • The club will host a two-day Tri-State swim meet on 7/1 and 7/2.  All families are strongly encouraged to help with the meet.  A raffle will be held at the meet as one of the mandated fund raisers.  If you have any ideas and/or donations for raffle items, contact Rita Johnson.
     
  • Summer meet schedule is now finalized.  Check meet schedule for information, sign-up deadlines, and time standards.
     
  • Team and individual pictures will be taken on Thursday, 6/15 at 6 p.m.  The June parent meeting is also scheduled on that day for 6:15 p.m.
     
  • The club has asked the deck coaches to submit a "wish list" for training aids/materials.  We will discuss further on this subject after the list has been received.

April Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Financial report for MSA-hosted D II meet was distributed at the meeting.  The net income was close to expectations.  If you wish to get a copy of the report, ask Coach Randy.
     
  • First quarter budget report was also distributed.  If you wish to get a copy of the report, ask Coach Randy.
     
  • Coach Randy announced that we will be co-hosting the D II South Championship meet with SPA in 2007.
     
  • The club is arranging for an official clinic for parents who are interested in officiating in swim meets.  Contact Greg Harrell if you are interested or have any questions.
     
  • Our summer long course meet schedule is mostly finalized.  The schedule for Tri-state meets will be determined and announced in early May.
     
  • Coach Randy would like for any swimmers who are interested in going to the team trip meet in Memphis to sign up as soon as possible.  Any concerns or questions should be directed to Randy.
     
  • Morning practice schedule for summer was announced.
    Monday, 6-7:30 at Hammon's Pool
    Tuesday, 6-7:30 at Meador (corner of Fremont and Sunset)
    Wednesday, 8-9:30 at Meador
    Thursday, 6-7:30 at Meador
    Friday, 8-9:30 at Meador

    Evening practice schedule is still being determined.  Options will be distributed to parents for feedback before it is finalized.  Be sure to let Coach Randy know of any concerns.
     
  • Concern for the high level of chlorine in our pool was raised.  Coach Randy will follow up with building administration to resolve the issue.

February Parent Meeting Highlights
DII Championship Meet Preparation

  • We are still collecting donations for silent auction items for the following baskets and more:  art, children's toys, coffee and tea, candle, movie night, Christmas, and fishing.  Questions and items regarding the silent auction should be directed to Rita Johnson or Annie Bach.
     
  • If you have not hand in your DII advertisement sales, be sure to do so before Wednesday, 2/15.  Leave them in the envelop on the bulletin board or to Ginny Imhof.
     
  • We will need all families to be involved in the meet for it to be successful.  A sign-up sheet for work shifts (with explanation) will be posted on the bulletin board soon.  Please sign-up.  The club needs your help.  Job positions which need to be filled include (but not limited to): parking attendance, head timer, heat sheet sales, first aid responder, helper for the hospitality room and silent auction.
     
  • Set up for the meet will be after 5 p.m. on Thursday, 2/23 and after 12 p.m. on Friday, 2/23.  Parents who are available during those times, please go to the Natatorium to help.
     
  • Be sure to sign up for the Last Chance Meet if you wish to achieve qualifying time or better your time for the upcoming championship meets.
     
  • The next parent meeting will be on Thursday, 3/16 at Incredible Pizza at 6 p.m.  It will be combined with the short-course end-of-season party.

January Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Neletha Fuemmeler was elected club secretary and David Meinert was elected treasurer.  Their term will expire in December, 2007.
     
  • Budget for 2005/06 was circulated in the meeting, for a complete copy and questions, contact Coach Randy.
     
  • We will hold a silent auction during the Division II meet.  Donations of items are welcome.  Look for details in club reminders, or contact Rita Johnson and/or Annie Bach.
