December Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Club budget for 2005/2006 was presented and distributed at the meeting.  If you wish to obtain a copy or make any inquiries regarding the budget, contact Coach Randy.
     
  • More team apparels have come in, they will be distributed as soon as possible.
     
  • Ginny Imhof has agreed to be in charge of the advertising for Division II meet.  Sales packet can be printed off the club web site or picked up at the pool.
     
  • Sign-up sheets for the NWAA meet and Tri meet in January have been posted on the bulletin board.
     
  • Anyone interested in running for the offices of Secretary or Treasurer should get their intent in writing to Greg, Rita or Randy no later than 1/2. Elections will be in the January parent meeting.
     
  • The January parent meeting is tentatively set for Thursday, 1/12.

October Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Both September income statement and expense report for MSA Pentathlon were presented at the meeting.  Contact Coach Randy if you need a copy of the statements or if you have any questions.
     
  • Families should continue to work on Swim-a-Thon pledges.  Volunteer lap counters are needed at Swim-A-Thon night on Thursday, 10/27.  Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.
     
  • The Fall Family Bonfire will be held on Saturday, 11/12 from 6 p.m. on at the Johnson's.  Look for invitation and direction in your family mailbox.  Families should sign up for head count and dishes to bring.
     
  • There will be a $5 per child fee increase for swim lessons starting January, 2006.
     
  • The club is still waiting for the additional shipment for the team order placed earlier this month.  Families who have sizing problems for female team suits should contact Marilyn Dennis for in-club swaps (worn) or return/exchange (unworn).
     
  • The apparel committee is working on getting the new team t-shirt.  The parents have agreed on having a team t-shirt design contest for our next team t-shirt.
     
  • Information on Missouri Valley Division II South Championship meet (hosted by MSA at the Foster Natatorium between 2/24 to 2/26) sponsorship/ad sales information packet was disseminated at the meeting.  Parents discussed various possibilities and methods of soliciting advertisements and sponsorship.  Contact Neletha Fuemmeler a packet or questions.  The ad packet is also available on the club web site.
     
  • The club will hold a "MSA Chant" contest for a club chant at swim meets.  Details will appear in the November newsletter.
     
  • The November parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 11/10.

September Parent Meeting Highlights
Minutes

  • Rita Johnson was elected as the vice president of the club.  She will serve till December, 2006.
     
  • The end-of-fiscal-year report was presented at the meeting.  Contact Randy if you have any questions or need a copy of the report.
     
  • Please check meet schedule for updates on JCKW Dual and JCKW Invitational meet.
     
  • Sign-up sheet for 2005/06 committees is posted on the bulletin board, please sign up for the ones you'd like to participate in.
     
  • Information regarding new team apparel was presented.  MSA has signed up to be a Speedo team.  Families will receive team apparel order information soon.  For samples and details, contact Randy Horner, Landra Bunge, or Marilyn Dennis.

  • Team parents are encouraged to become USSA officials to officiate for swim meets.  Contact Greg Harrell if you are interested.
     
  • MSA will host its Swim-A-Thon fund raiser on Thursday, October 27.  Information and pledge envelop will be given to families the week of September 19.
     
  • The next parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 20.

July Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Payments for outstanding dues and fees should be made by August 1.  Meet fees and dues for August should be made by the first week of August to allow "closing" and annual financial statement.
     
  • Dues for August is $30 for all Pandas and Cubs swimmers and $35 for all Bruins and Bears swimmers including second child.
     
  • A summary financial report for 2004/2005 fiscal year was distributed at the meeting.  Ask coach Randy if you'd like to have a copy.  All questions regarding club finance should be directed to Randy as well.
     
  • The club vice president, Shawn Jones, has resigned due to family relocation.  An election to fill the position will be held at the end-of-the-year party on August 10.  Anyone who is interested in running for the position should contact head coach Randy or any of the board members.
     
  • Team picture day is Tuesday, 8/2.  Individual pictures will be taken starting 5 p.m. and team picture will be taken at 6 p.m.  Please ware your team suits.
     
  • The end-of-the-year party is scheduled for Tuesday, 8/9 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Cooper Estate community pool.  Please sign up for head counts and dishes to bring.
     
  • The next parent meeting will be held on Thursday, 9/15 at 6:15.

May Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Team trip to St. Peter's meet is finalized.  Please pay fee by 5/27.
     
  • Summer practice schedule and meet schedule are finalized.  "2005 Tri-state event list and time standards" was also distributed.
     
  • SWAB welcomes new coaches Greg Temple, Seth Johnson (Cubs and Pandas), and Paul Monroe (Bruins).  Farewell and "thank you" to Chauntelle, Kyla and Allison.
     
  • SWAB will host a Tri-State swim meet on June 11 and 12 at the SMSU Pool.  Swimmers are encouraged to sign up for the meet and parents are asked to help.  Sign-up sheets for meet work assignments are on the bulletin board.

    - A pre-meet parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, 6/7 at 6:15 p.m. to go over meet details.  Please plan to attent.

    - The last mandatory fund-raiser for this year will be held in conjunction with the SWAB-hosted meet.  Each member family will be responsible for selling a minimum of 50 raffle tickets ($1 per ticket).
     
  • "Headache Clinic Testing" personnel may start contact families for testing.  It is not too late to sign up for it now.
     
  • The team will form a new "Public Relations" committee to help solicit and maintain relationship between the SWAB and area sponsors.  Check the bulletin board for the sign-up sheet.
     
  • Families that have outstanding swim clinic fundraiser fee dues should settle the balance before the end of May to avoid late charges.
     
  • The next regular parent meeting will be held on Thursday, 7/14 at 6:15 p.m.

April Parent Meeting Highlights

  • $5 per swimmer due increase is now effective.
  • Parents are encouraged to sign swimmers up for summer meets.  Check summer meet schedule for detail meet information.  Tri-state meet schedule should be finalized after May 7.
  • Detail for team trip (13 & older) was announced.
  • Tentative summer practice schedule was announced.
  • Our swim club will likely host 3 swim meets next year (2005-06), a one-day Pentathlon meet on 10/1/05, D II South Championships meet from 2/24 to 2/26/05, and a Tri-state meet in the summer of 2006.
  • The May parent meeting will be on Thursday, 5/19 at 6:15 p.m.

$5 Per Swimmer Due Increase

  • The proposed $5 per swimmer due increase was passed during the special parent meeting on Wednesday, 3/2.  The increase will become effective in April, 2005.

February Parent Meeting Highlights

  • The 2004/05 club budget (from 9/1 to 8/31) was presented at the meeting.  In addition to fundraisers, the board proposed a $5 per swimmer due increase to help make up for the discrepancy between projected income and expenses.

    Current dues: Cubs & Pandas, $50; Bruins and Bears, $60.
    Proposed dues: Cubs & Pandas, $55; Bruins and Bears, $65.

    According to the club bylaws (Article III), a due increase must be put to a vote of the general membership and a simple majority of those attending shall carry the vote.  A special parent meeting is called for Wednesday, 3/2 at 6:15 to discuss and vote for the proposal (by ballots).  It is very important that you attend this meeting.
     
  • The Brooke Bennett Swim Clinic preparation is well underway.  Be sure to sign your children up by 3/24 and to start selling advertisements. The deadline for turning in the advertisement is also 3/24.  This is a $50-minimum mandated fundraiser for member families.  Please pick up your advertisement information packet from your family mailbox.  If you have any questions, contact Ginny Imhof at 887-8300.
     
  • A "Headache Center Testing" fundraiser was announced by Landra Bunge.  This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the club by volunteering your time for a 45-minute computer-based cognitive skills testing.  Anyone 8 and older can participate and the club will get a per participation fee from the Headache Research Center. Be sure to talk to a board member or Landra to get details and sign up.
     
  • The proposed Texas Hold 'em Tournament fundraiser has been canceled.

January Parent Meeting Highlights

  • "Thank you" to Landra Bunge and Debbie Taylor for their services to the club as president and vice president for the past two years.
  • The new SWAB newsletter is out.  Thanks to Vicki Peterson and Ginger Lucht.  If you have any ideas or articles you'd like to see in the newsletter, contact Vicki or Ginger, or put them in the "Newsletter" folder on the bulletin board.
  • The Texas Hold 'em Tournament has been postponed to Saturday, 3/19.  This will not be a mandatory fund raiser but all families will be asked to try and bring in at least one player for the tournament.
  • SWAB will welcome Olympic Gold Medalist Brooke Bennett (800 free, 1996; 400 & 800 free, 2000) on 4/16 for the Swim Clinic.
  • All future parent meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month at 6:15 unless noted otherwise.

December Parent Meeting Highlights

  • Greg Harrell and Shawn Jones were elected as club president and vice president for a two-year term starting January 1, 2005.
  • The Texas Hold 'em Tournament fund raiser is scheduled for 2/5.  Details will be announced later.

  • The club will provide the main dish (brisket, yum!).  Please sign up to bring a side dish or desert.

November Parent Meeting Highlights

  • The December parent meeting will be on Wednesday, 12/15 at 6:15.  There will be elections for club president and vice president.  We will have our Christmas party right after the meeting.

  • Leave the filled order form in the blue Aquabears Apparel Orders folder or give it to Marilyn Dennis.

  • Swim-a-Thon team T-shirt prize winners: order your T-shirt, then use your prize card to claim it.

October Parent Meeting Policy Announcements

  • Policy on account balances and eligibility to swim in meets - A zero family account balance is required for a swimmer to be entered into a meet.
     
  • Late fees policy - Monthly account balances are due by the 15th of each month.  A $5 late fee will be charged for overdue balances.
     
  • Policy on suit/apparel orders - Suit/apparel orders must be paid for in person to Marilyn Dennis, Landra Bunge, or coach Randy before pick up.
     
  • Discount for bringing new club members/lessons participants - Families will get 50% off one month's due for each brand new club members or lessons participants family they bring to SWAB.
